What you'll learn

The Breakthrough Pre-Apprenticeship Programme is a course designed to instil prison leavers and those facing employment barriers with the skills necessary to succeed on a full-time apprenticeship.

Breakthrough will be running a pre-apprenticeship programme in prison and a pilot in the local community. Following these programmes, we will provide fully-supported tech and business apprenticeships upon release.

Entry requirements

Our 6-week Pre-Apprenticeship Programme will take place from 7th December all day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in Finsbury Park. We pay £15 each day, up to £270

This online course is taught using Microsoft Teams

What does this mean for me?

Our courses are normally taught in person. To keep people safe during the coronavirus pandemic, we're doing all our teaching online instead.

You'll need a computer or smartphone with a good internet connection.

Your tutor will send you detailed instructions before lessons start.

Objectives

  • Develop confidence and inspire our selected students

  • Rigorously assess capability, dedication and risk level of the students for our employers

  • Give the students an opportunity to reflect on whether the post-release apprenticeship would be a good fit for them

  • Develop soft skills and professional norms so our students can easily integrate into our employers

  • Team building and working on projects

  • Introduce specific technical skills to assess capacity to learn and progress

Who is the programme for? The programme is open to all and those prison leavers or people with barriers to employment. We are open to people of all ages and genders. We do not restrict anyone based on specific convictions.
