DigitallyCoolCoders specializes in empowering the younger generation with essential digital skills while focusing on coding, Python and cybersecurity by running after school coding clubs geared towards primary school age students.
ABOUT THE ROLE
DigitallyCoolCoders is seeking tutors to help kids power up and unlock their future. We are looking to establish a small team of tutors to deliver tutoring sessions in London (Hackney, Islington, Haringey, Tower Hamlet).
Our focus is to educate the basics of coding through interactive games, puzzles and tutorials on different learning platforms. The goal is to teach children to be adaptive in this world.
We aim to introduce positive teachings and engage with our communities , by working with children to get them digitally prepared for their future while simultaneously learning to use ‘tech for good’.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and maintain the delivery of classes by keeping up to date on the curriculum and latest teaching trends.
- Research learning resources to use in lessons.
- Maintain a growth mindset for student learning and teaching practices for yourself.
- Contribute to student learning, growth and advancement.
- Facilitate problem-solving with a curious mind and critical thinking skills.
- Collaborate effectively with parents to increase student performance and update on progress.
- Be able to communicate with parents, guardians on any issues that requires attention.
- To always maintain contact with the admin team if any changes need to be made to meeting times and it is done in a reasonable time frame.
- Motivate and inspire our children ages from 4 to 12 with their learning needs and weaknesses in the skills that needs improvement.
- Ensure the health and safety of the children, parents and team members at all times.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Have a great manner with and should love working with children.
- Proven work experience as a Tutor or similar role working in a school or childcare background would be advantage.
- Exceptional communication skills to connect with students and share complex information based on student’s needs.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to be prepared for each sessions.
- Appropriate level of technical expertise would be an advantage but not required to help students master and advance their skillset.
- Can demonstrate confidentiality with regards to disclosing personal information without authorisation.
- Compassionate towards students who struggle with learning and retaining information.
- Be able to maintain a positive attitude to help motivate and encourage students to challenge themselves.
- Patience – staying calm and respectful as students navigate the program.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and be a positive role model at all times and have the ability to make learning and work fun.
- Work effectively in teams or as an individual and alway maintain a professional approach with your work.
- Fluent English.
- A valid current DBS is required (but can be obtained if successful for the role).
All successful applicants will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check to ensure their suitability to work with children. The DBS cost can be covered by employer.
Probation period – There is a 3 month probation period.
Pay – During the probation period, the role will pay £20 per hour. After successfully passing probation, the pay will go up to between £30-£40 per hour.
Working hours/pattern – 1 hour per week (different locations in Hackney, Islington, Haringey, Tower Hamlet).
