ABOUT THE ROLE

The team of Floor Assistants at V&A East Storehouse will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of visitor experience and safety across the building.

They will understand the V&A’s core values and ensure that our visitors and diverse audiences feel welcome and engaged. They will also play a key role in defining how V&A East establishes and builds its identity as a leading cultural hub.

The team of Front of House Assistants will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of visitor experience and safety across the building.

They will understand the V&A’s core values and ensure that our visitors and diverse audiences feel welcome and engaged. They will also play a key role in defining how V&A East establishes and builds its identity as a leading cultural hub.

V&A East will seek to provide a holistic welcome for our visitors, and as such this role will be focused on both visitor experience and daytime front of house security awareness. We will provide excellent opportunities for training and experience as it is important for us to provide you with a career-enhancing skill set.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that visitors feel welcome, engaged with and safe in our building.
• Work across multiple areas, including ticketing, retail and membership sales, public programme and events support.
• Ensure that V&A East’s values are woven through our visitor experience.
• Work collaboratively with the wider Front of House team and Volunteering team.
• Keep Storehouse safe and looking its best by reporting maintenance issues and highlighting hazards.
• Support senior staff in the delivery of wider strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Someone who is friendly and great with people – able to make our visitors from all backgrounds feel welcome.
• Is confident at communicating with others and happy to approach visitors, so they get the most out of their visit.
• Can think on their feet -, problem-solve, prioritise, and take action in a fast-paced environment.
• Is excited about V&A East’s opening and vision, so that this can be shared with our visitors.
• Is a team-player – happy to support other team members and work together.
• Is reliable, punctual and organised – someone who will turn up to work on time for each shift they are scheduled for.
• Has an interest in art, design and performance.
• Shares our Values of Sustainability, Equity, Creativity, Collaboration & Generosity.
• Has an understanding of the local environment, targets V&A East audience and lives in, or has lived experience of, one of our local boroughs (Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest).
