The Lecturer in Digital Fashion Product Development is responsible for teaching, curriculum development, unit management and on-going scholarship on the BA Buying & Merchandising course. This course is part of the Product & Innovation Programme in The Fashion Business School at The London College of Fashion.

Purpose of the role:

  • Undertake pedagogic and curriculum development that stimulate thought and practice that challenge the canon of Fashion Buying & Merchandising, with a focus on digital product development and 3D garment construction, and sustainable product sourcing, with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity;
  • Expand the capacity of the course design to meet the need for students to be ready for the rapidly changing fashion retail environment, with a focus on product development and supply chain skills, this responsibility is of immediate strategic importance and may develop or change in the light of new priorities;
  • Be responsible for the effective and efficient management of units, ensuring high student satisfaction, attainment, and attendance;
  • Be responsible for a group of undergraduate students’ pastoral support, progress, and attendance, maintaining records and liaising with colleagues as appropriate;
  • Teach face-to-face and in an online environment, ensuring the continued development of new modes of delivery.
    Uphold and implement the policies and procedures of University of the Arts London and the College.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Fashion Business / Management / Fashion Buying & Merchandising / Fashion Design or associated subject.  [Essential]
  • Higher degree (e.g. MA) in Fashion Business / Management or associated subject.  [Desirable]
  • PhD or Higher level research degree.  [Desirable]
  • Teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent).  [Desirable]
  • Member of the Higher Education Academy.  [Desirable]
  • Experience of teaching & assessment in a higher education environment (permanent, fractional, or hourly paid contract).  [Essential]
  • Shows commitment to understanding the range of students’ experiences within a course
  • Applies an inquiring, innovative and reflexive approach to teaching.
  • Considers equality, diversity, and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching and assessment.
  • Collaborates and works effectively within the team and across different professional groups.
  • Works effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people.
  • Evidence of research, knowledge exchange and/ or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of Fashion Buying and Merchandising activity and is relevant to the goals of the Programme, College and University.
  • Evidence of using contacts within subject peer group to develop partnerships or collaboration.
  • Familiar with debates and research relating to decolonising the curriculum and awarding gaps within the HE Sector.
  • Plans, prioritises, and manages resources effectively to achieve objectives.
  • Works collaboratively in a team and where appropriate across or with different professional groups
