ABOUT NATIONAL CENTRE FOR CIRCUS ARTS

The National Centre for Circus Arts is a world-class educational & professional national training centre for circus arts. Based in a redeveloped Victorian power station in Hoxton, London, N1, we run a degree in circus arts; offer practice facilities, rehearsal and show-devising space to professional performers; offer a wide range of classes for adults and children in the evenings and at weekends and produce public and internal productions. The building is also home to 11 Creative Business Units in the purpose built offices in the Energy Centre.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Sitting within the Commercial team, but providing support across the whole organisation, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for all communications with the National Centre’s audiences and participants across all delivery areas. There will be a particular focus on ensuring that all the different needs of the organisation, both commercial and programme related can co-exist and be promoted through both digital and more traditional channels. The role will also contribute to the creation, commissioning and sourcing of video and photography to be used in digital campaigns.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Commercial Director to implement the Marketing and Communications strategy for the organisation.
  • Ensure that all digital content (social media, video channels and website) is engaging, informative, up to date, and consistent in language and tone.
  • Manage the website presence ensuring it remains up to date and conveys all relevant activity.
  • Work with relevant programme managers to ensure that activity and campaigns across the organisation are scheduled and delivered.
  • Manage and coordinate press and other PR opportunities.
  • Commission external designers, photographers and videographers were needed for campaign collateral

DETAILS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing & Communications Strategy

  • Work with the Commercial Director to deliver a marketing & communications strategy for all National Centre programmes, including the Higher Education programme, recreational classes, venue hire, other corporate activity and our professional membership.
  • Develop and implement a calendar of communications and other marketing activities, consulting widely across the organisation and ensuring this sits alongside the organisation’s priorities.
  • Ensure that the visual identity is maintained, and use of the organisation’s brand assets is clearly communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Look for opportunities to widen our brand reach and visibility.

Digital Content

  • Oversee and develop the website presence, working with the external provider as and when needed.
  • With the Data Manager, ensure the website is kept up-to-date, removing out-of-date references and content, and refreshing content on a regular basis. Work across all departments to ensure their webpages are delivering appropriate messages.
  • Develop and implement the organisation’s social media strategy and plan campaigns based on the organisation’s requirements.
  • Manage and schedule social media posts and interaction using third-party platforms, based on the department’s campaign calendar for planned events and activity.
  • Be solely responsible for posting and approaches to social media, dedicating time to understanding our audience and followers and developing the organisation’s voice.
  • Lead on the use, development and analysis of inorganic social media tools.
  • Create and edit content suitable for social media channels, such as short videos and images, liaising with programme managers.
  • Research and keep abreast of new trends and social media tools.

Working with other teams

  • Working with the Data Manager, ensure information on Spektrix is accurate and monitored regularly allowing segmentation and use of analytics for all media campaigns and e-communications
  • Ensure that collated data is interpreted correctly and informs the marketing & communications strategy.
  • Work closely with all programme managers to understand their needs and priorities, informing the creation and oversight of the campaign calendar. Press, Partnership and other PR Opportunities.
  • With the Commercial Director, assist with seeking PR and partnership opportunities to promote the work of the National Centre or its students and participants.
  • Manage any press/PR events, such as photoshoots, interviews etc.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Director to explore brand partnerships with external companies or groups to help increase awareness.

Commissioning Content

  • Source photographers and videographers and commission suitable online content for use across a variety of digital platforms including websites, various social media and video channels. Ensure all content is appropriately managed in line with GDPR guidelines.
  • Manage the archive of digital assets.
  • Work with external designers to commission print and digital design collateral.

Other

  • Advise the Commercial Director on costs and requirements in relation to the departmental budget.
  • Supply statistics and information as necessary to enable feedback to funders and relevant statutory bodies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to health & safety and its practical application in all areas of work and encourage a culture of responsibility for H&S throughout the organisation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

  • At least one year’s experience of delivering and/or contributing to a marketing and communications strategy, preferably in the arts, heritage or higher education sectors.
  • Experience of managing website content and edits.
  • Experience of working across an organisation and understanding the needs of different departments.
  • Experience of using and analysing paid-for social media tools.
  • Experience of commissioning and working with third party suppliers, preferably in the field of video and photo capture.
  • Experience of using content management systems (currently WordPress), customer relationship management systems (currently Spektrix) and social media platforms
    (Instagram, YouTube, Twitter amongst others).
  • Experience of overseeing or delivering press and PR events to help further awareness of organisations’ aims.
