The Accountancy & Taxation Professional apprenticeship at the BBC should be your next step if you’re aspiring to advance your career and further your knowledge, skills and experience in finance. This apprenticeship is for new and aspiring finance professionals.
As well as studying for a recognised professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA) with our training provider partner, you’ll also get first-hand understanding of how the world’s largest and best-known public service broadcaster manages its finances, keeps on top of its taxes and ensures that the content we make gives best value to our audiences.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
What will you be doing on the apprenticeship ?
As an Accountancy or Taxation Apprentice, you’ll join an exciting BBC team while developing your skills in areas like:
- Financial Management.
- Assurance, Risk and Control.
- Financial Information.
- Legislation.
- Strategic Business Management and Governance.

What will you be studying ?
You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job.
- CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) focuses on management accounting and provides expertise in financial management and business strategy.
- ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) offers a broader spectrum of accounting skills, covering areas like audit, taxation, and financial reporting, preparing professionals for various roles in finance and accounting.
Where could the role take you ?
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be a fully qualified accountant who will be able to apply for a broad range of roles in financial functions in the BBC and across the industry!
This scheme starts in September 2025, and you will be on a fixed term contract which means your contract is for the duration of the apprenticeship only. The duration of this scheme will be between 27 and 40 months (depending on your current academic record/exemptions) and is delivered virtually.

Great Accountancy & Taxation Apprentices are those who can demonstrate:
- Effective problem-solving
- Stakeholder and relationship management (including negotiating)
- Analysis and understanding of mathematical and financial concepts
- Communication of complex models to a range of stakeholders
- Brilliant organisational skills
- A calm and focused approach to changing circumstances
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in September 2025.
- By the start of the apprenticeship in September 2025, have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years.
- Be eligible to work in the UK full time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract.
- Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation.
- Have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline by the time the scheme starts in September 2025.
- Have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or above or an equivalent qualification.
- Not have already achieved the ACCA or CIMA qualification.
WHAT YOU GET

- A starting salary of £25,500 (+ £5,318 London Living Allowance).
