ABOUT THE ROLE
The role of an Intern at Rostrum is wide-ranging, incorporating a wide variety of activities to support the team’s efforts to raise the media profile of the agency’s clients, bolster their brand reputation, and position them as experts in their fields. Interns have the scope to make their mark within the agency, yet are supported by a safety net of advice and guidance from the rest of the team. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Key responsibilities include:
- Learning the company’s day-to-day systems, tools, platforms and processes
- Building relationships and networking with colleagues and the media
- Monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, websites, radio, TV, and blogs for opportunities and/or relevant stories for clients
- Working as part of an account team to find creative angles to promote clients to the press
- Writing articles, blogs and social media posts
- Collating media coverage and preparing it for clients
- Contributing to additional client projects and research, as required
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the office by checking, ordering and putting away supplies as needed
- Answering the door and welcoming guests as needed
- Help with researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media,
- Attending company training sessions
- Creating briefing documents, forward features lists, and press lists
- Promoting news stories and features to the media, known as ‘selling in’
- Reviewing upcoming features and ‘pitching’ Rostrum’s clients for inclusion
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- An interest in writing (at school, on a personal blog, in previous roles).
- An interest in technology and content creation.
- Attention to detail.
- Organisation skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
- Comfortable building relationships with colleagues and clients
