ABOUT THE ROLE
To assist in the supervision of Building Cleaning staff allocated to a specific school/site within the Borough, to ensure that all areas within the school/site are kept clean and safe for all users.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To undertake the cleaning of a designated primary school to the frequencies and standards determined by the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and as agreed with the school representative.
- To liaise on a daily basis with the Area Manager, Head Teacher, Site Supervisor or any designated school representative.
- To check on the work, punctuality and attendance of Building Cleaners
- To organise and deploy staff both on a day to day basis and in the event of staff absence.
- To assist in the programming and planning of periodic work in conjunction with the Area Manager.
- To liaise with the Area Manager and Juniper main office regarding the booking of agency staff.
- To ensure that all documentation; agency timesheets, weekly budget sheets from each site are completed accurately and despatched to the Area Manager in a timely manner:
- To ensure that all Health and Safety Procedures, practices and other statutory requirements are complied with at all times and that staff work to a safe method and manner.
- To monitor and order equipment, cleaning and chemical materials required for each site and return to office for processing.
- Any other duties within the competence of the post holder that may reasonably be required from time to time.
Key tasks and accountabilities are intended to be a guide to the range and level of work expected of the postholder.
This is not an exhaustive list of all tasks that may fall to the postholder and employees will be expected to carry out such other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
- Of cleaning within primary schools, including timing of activities to match a normal working day.
- Understanding the needs of staff at work and the ability to apply common sense in supervisory situations.
- Of working in general in the cleaning industry.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety issues In the cleaning industry.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to undertake training relevant to the role.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to rota work in order to ensure that all customers receive regular service.
- Ability to supervise and manage a team of building cleaners.
- Ability to complete paperwork such as visit sheets and employee timesheets.
- Ability to use IT (Microsoft Word / Excel).
Behaviours:
- Track record of working in a supervisory capacity with a cleaning team.
- Positive and flexible in approach to the carrying out of the duties of the role.
- Excellent interpersonal / communication skills.
