We deliver Smoking Cessation support to the residents of the City of London and the Borough of Hackney

ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of the role is to support people to improve their health through quitting smoking. This is achieved through providing pharmacotherapy and behaviour change support.

We also deliver marketing and engagement efforts to promote the service and the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Delivering evidence-based interventions that focus on smoking cessation, behaviour change, and psychological support to save lives by helping smokers quit for good.
• Running stop smoking clinics across different settings by working with clients on both a one-to-one and group basis.
• Working with partner organisations and colleagues in Primary Care to help improve patient uptake and meet targets.
• Provide tailored or adapted programmes focused on specific priority groups.
• Ensuring an excellent and safe experience for clients, in alignment with our policies and procedures.
• Engaging in training relevant to your role, such as NCSCT Stop Smoking training and Behaviour Change Level 1 and 2.
• Working with colleagues across all of our Thrive Tribe services to contribute to new projects and service developments – we’re always looking to share knowledge and resources.
• Ensuring due consideration is given to Information Governance and Clinical Governance legislation, requirements and guidance.

Other requirements

The role requires travel across the City of London and the Borough of Hackney to deliver smoking cessation clinics and attend health promotion events.

TRAINING

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training schedule

• The apprenticeship is delivered as a weekly day release at our campus in Stratford, E15.
• Level 3 Community Health and Wellbeing.
• Behaviour, Skills and Knowledge.

Start date: Friday 16 October 2026

Location: Here East, London, E20 3BS

Training provider: Newham College of Further Education

Training course: Community health and wellbeing worker (level 3)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm, with a 30 minute lunch.

Salary: £15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

There may be the opportunity for flexible working over evenings and weekends if the candidate is looking for alternative hours.
