MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
What will you be doing on the apprenticeship ?
As a Chartered Manager Degree Apprentice you will be:
- Developing an understanding of organisations and how they work so you can apply your new learning in your role at the BBC.
- Exploring considerations such as external environments, organisational strategy, markets and processes and how they all work together.
- Reflecting on your experiences of business management practice to produce and apply new understanding and skills in the workplace.
- Gaining a broad range of graduate and professional skills to enhance your performance in your role and develop your career.
You will work in the Sustainability (BBC News) team. This is an opportunity to work at the very heart of BBC News as we work towards our vision to become the greenest global broadcaster. The Sustainability in News team works to deliver and support a variety of sustainability-related initiatives, supporting the delivery of the BBC’s green transition.
What will you be studying ?
You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job, covering areas such as operational strategy, project management and business finance. This involves studying for your BSc (Hons) degree in Management Practice and Maths and English if not previously achieved.
Where could the role take you ?
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to able to look for job opportunities inside or outside the BBC such as business coordinator or business advisor.
This scheme starts in September 2025, and you will be on a fixed term contract which means your contract is for the duration of the apprenticeship only. The duration of this scheme is 42 months.

Great Chartered Manager Degree Apprentices are those who can demonstrate they:
- Have brilliant organisational skills and are great at problem-solving and negotiating.
- Can manage multiple deadlines and demands on your time.
- Have a calm and focused approach to changing circumstances.
- Have a keen interest in the BBC and how people consume content, bursting with fresh ideas to introduce new perspectives.
- Are an enthusiastic self-starter, flexible and adaptable to out-of-hours working.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in September 2025.
- By the start of the apprenticeship in September 2025, have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years.
- Be eligible to work in the UK full time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract.
- Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation.
- Not have completed or hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject, Business and/or Management at level 5 or higher.
- To complete the apprenticeship, you must have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
- If you have not achieved these qualifications by the start of your apprenticeship, you will be required to achieve Functional Skills Level 2 before the end of your apprenticeship when you take your end-point assessment.
- Not be currently studying toward a qualification in apprenticeship subject, Business and/or Management at level 5 or higher.
