PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Museum of the Home is seeking its first Commercial Programme Manager to develop and deliver income generating, profit making events and activities. The Commercial Programme Manager will kickstart and get up and running a full Adult Learning programme.The Adult Learning programme will be covering multi-week courses, single and multi-day workshops and study days. This role is to boost income generated from the current run of commercial fairs and programming 1-2 additional fairs a year. Successful candidate will create a programme of ticketed tours at the Museum and in the local area and develop a series of ticketed late Museum openings.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  • To develop and deliver full Adult Learning Programme, working closely with the Head of Commercial Development delivering multi-week, single and multi-day courses
  • To boost income from the existing 2 selling fairs and develop and programme 1-2 additional selling fairs per year
  • To devise programme of ticketed tours both at the Museum and in the local area
  • To develop and deliver regular Museum lates programme
  • Work with Head of Communications team to devise a marketing strategy to increase audiences for our commercial programmes
  • To work with the Communications team to develop processes of recording and editing elements of our commercial programming that will reach audiences across the world.
  • To develop our role within our diverse local community
  • Be an advocate for the Museum’s vision, brand and manifesto

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Personal attributes:

Essential:

  • Experience in developing or delivering Leisure Learning programmes
  • Proven experience in managing and hands-on delivery of events, preferably in an arts or heritage organisation
  • Experience in working with diverse audiences in a front-facing role
  • Proven budget management experience and understanding of targets and deadlines will be required to demonstrate that you can generate a material profit within this
  • Ability to think creatively and to work under own initiative. The Museum of the Home has a small team and independent working is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with external partners including artists, curators, speakers, and academics
  • Be ready to work evenings and occasional weekends, for which a time off in lieu system operates
  • Maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Produce accurate, relevant and timely financial reports
  • Ensure diligence and compliance in security matters, health and safety regulations
  • Experience working with event planning and scheduling software e.g. Artifax

Desirable:

  • Strategy development experience
  • Ticketing systems or software experience
  • Heritage/visitor attraction background
  • Experience of recording and/or livestreaming events

This role may require out of hours work in the event of an emergency to support the emergency plan.

All back of house roles on minimum 4 days per week will work approximately one shift per month in the galleries as part of our Visitor First scheme.

This role may require some evening and weekend working.

This role will require a basic DBS clearance.
