ABOUT TIBBALDS

Tibbalds is an urban design and architecture practice based in Southwark, working on a rich range of projects for private and public sector clients. We are an experienced, award-winning team who bring together planning,  and communities to deliver people-friendly places.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is exclusively for Hackney residents aged between 16-24 years old and is for 6 weeks starting July 2026

The Tibbalds internship programme is for people early in their built environment career who are interested in a career in planning or urban design. We are keen to support applicants from a variety of academic routes into built environment professions.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  • You will shadow Tibbalds staff, attend numerous site visits, attend team meetings and workshops while enriching your skills in 3D modelling with Sketchup and Vectorworks.
  • You will work on a wide variety of projects and tasks, learn about the full planning lifecycle for projects and gain confidence exploring future work in the field.
  • This internship will give you the opportunity to develop skills and principles in planning, while applying them to real projects.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate and enthusiastic about design and places
  • Is accurate and thorough in undertaking their work
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and independently
  • Can communicate well with others
  • Is comfortable using MS Office
  • May have traditionally faced barriers to getting work and/or training
  • Is available to work 7 hours a day Monday to Friday, we can consider flexible working arrangements to fit around other commitments e.g. education or caring responsibilities
  • Is available to start the six-week internship in July 2026
  • The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK by the start of their employment
