ABOUT THE ROLE
This apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a solid foundation for your future! Erith is looking for a motivated Groundworker Apprentice to join our team. Over the course of this 21-month apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience and work towards a Level 2 Groundworker qualification, a key step for a successful career in construction support.
As part of our team, you will play a vital role in preparing and maintaining safe work areas, assisting with setting out, and conducting essential groundwork tasks such as laying foundations, installing drainage, and constructing paths and kerbs. You will help ensure projects progress smoothly and meet the high standards expected within Erith.
What you will learn:
During the programme, you will gain exposure to the core aspects of groundwork operations. You will also complete off-the-job training, giving you the knowledge and skills to succeed in your role and progress in your career.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn how to safely move and handle loads using tools and equipment.
- Practice guiding vehicles and machinery with clear hand signals.
- Use PPE and follow safety rules to stay protected on site.
- Understand how to work safely in confined spaces.
- Help set up and take down access platforms and site protection.
- Learn to dig and uncover buried pipes and cables safely.
- Assist with installing drainage systems and supporting excavations.
- Gain skills in laying concrete, foundations, and finishing ground surfaces.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications, Knowledge & skills:
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
- A valid CSCS Labourers card.
Hours & Salary:
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–6:00pm (total 45 hours per week, excluding breaks)
This apprenticeship requires a 45-hour working week, which exceeds the legal working time limit for individuals under 18. Therefore, applicants must be 18 or over at the start of employment.
