Home Connections is a boutique software services provider that delivers bespoke solutions to the Social Housing sector (which covers Local Authority Housing and Housing Associations). Home Connections is a non-profit distributing company owned by several local authorities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This entry-level role is ideal for someone with foundational knowledge of IT systems who is eager to grow their skills in cloud platforms (Azure), virtualization (VMware), Office 365, and infrastructure monitoring. You will also support laptop and desktop users, assist with platform monitoring, and collaborate with software teams to ensure systems are aligned with development needs.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

System Support & Maintenance:

• Support VMware virtual environments, including basic VM provisioning and monitoring.

• Help maintain Azure resources such as virtual machines, databases, application services, storage, and user access.

Office 365 & User Support:

• Provide first-line support for Office 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).

• Assist with user account setup, password resets, and license assignments.

• Support laptop and desktop setup, imaging, and troubleshooting for Windows/macOS devices.

• Maintain an asset register of user devices and software.

Monitoring & Documentation:

• Monitor system health using tools like Azure Monitor, Paessler PRTG and other monitoring platforms.

• Log and escalate incidents as needed, and assist in resolving common issues.

• Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and support tickets.

• Create reports about performance, availability and possible improvements.

Collaboration & Learning:

• Work with senior IT staff and software developers to understand infrastructure needs.

• Participate in projects that support software deployment and system integration.

• Stay up to date with new technologies and best practices in IT administration.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential criteria

Essential Requirements

• Some experience (internship, coursework, or personal projects) in IT support or systems administration.

• Basic understanding of Azure, VMware, and Office 365 environments.

• Familiarity with Windows Server and basic networking concepts.

• Willingness to learn scripting (PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset.

Desirable criteria

Experience with helpdesk systems or ticketing platforms.

Additional information

You must be a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years. Security clearance may be required in the role, this will be conditional on probation sign off.

  • Contract type -Fixed term 12 months
  • Core hours – Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm
  • Work place – Hybrid with travel into London office 2/3 days per week
