ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you passionate about food? Are you eager to elevate your culinary career? We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our site in East!
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a pivotal role supporting the kitchen activity, ensuring smooth operation, excellent food produce and service.
A passion for food and good palate with a proactive approach are essential for this role. You’ll be working alongside a talented team and maintaining our high standards of food quality and safety.
Work well within the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient running of the kitchen operation at Sadlers Wells East.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
Key responsibility areas
- Maintain consistent and exceptional food standards and quality.
- Take a proactive approach to food safety and health and safety.
- Support catering operation across other sites when required.
Operations
- Efficient day-to-day operations ensuring system compliance.
- Ensure consistency in quality and portion control utilising menu specification sheets.
- Follow processes and systems to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective delivery.
Financial Management
- Contribute to achieving financial targets.
- Manage food wastage to keep this at minimum and train teams on zero waste.
- Stock management – rotation and security of stock.
Health & Safety / Food Safety
- Ensure the Company Food Safety Policy is always adhered to.
- Ensure the Company Health & Safety Policy is always adhered to.
- Advise Head Chef/Sous Chef of any breakage or malfunction of catering equipment so service or replacement can be arranged.
- Complete all compulsory training as detailed in Sadler’s Wells Food Safety policy.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience of working in a busy kitchen environment, contributing to high standards (essential).
- Team player, able to communicate and ask questions (essential).
- Self-motivated and eager to learn/progress (essential).
- Ability to complete tasks well and within a given time frame (essential).
- Understand and practically demonstrate Food Safety and Health & Safety (essential).
- Be able to work to high standards under pressure maintaining attention to detail (essential).
- Level-headed, sensible, trustworthy and reliable (essential).
- A passion for food (essential).
- Proactive in trouble shooting (essential).
- Must hold the right to work in the UK (essential).
- Experience in working within a Theatre, Arts or Entertainment Venue (desirable)
