ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Level 4 Apprentice Project Manager to join our team. The apprentice will work closely with experienced project managers, gaining hands-on experience, with a focus on schemes in and around Hackney while working towards a Level 4 apprenticeship qualification. This role provides an excellent opportunity for someone interested in exploring a career as a project manager in the built environment. As an Apprentice Project Manager, you’ll learn from both the Project Management and Commercial teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with Project Management Activities: Support senior project managers in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects from inception to completion.
- Communication: Support project managers to liaise with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project progression and resolve any issues as they arise.
- Documentation and Reporting: Assist in preparing and maintaining project documentation, including reports, schedules, trackers, risk registers, and budgets.
- Site Visits: Attend site visits to monitor progress alongside senior project managers, ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with the project plan, health and safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Project Scheduling: Assist in the creation and updating of project schedules, ensuring timelines are met and projects are delivered on time.
- Cost Control: Support the management of project budgets, including tracking expenses and assisting with cost reporting.
- Risk Management: Help identify potential project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Learning and Development: Attend training sessions, workshops, and seminars as part of the apprenticeship to develop both technical and soft skills required for a future role as a Project Manager.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Educational Background: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.
- Interest in Construction/Project Management: Passion for the construction industry and project management, with a desire to develop professionally.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with a range of stakeholders.
- Organisation and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and approach challenges with a solution-focused mindset.
- IT Skills: Competent in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Work Ethic: Proactive, motivated, and keen to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Attributes:
- A keen interest in the built environment or construction.
- Some experience (even voluntary) in construction, project management, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
- A full UK driving license (desirable but not essential).
Training and Development:
As a Level 4 apprentice, you will have the opportunity to gain professional qualifications while gaining practical experience.
Your training will be structured to provide knowledge of key areas of project management, including:
- Project initiation, planning, and delivery
- Cost control and budgeting
- Health and safety regulations
- Quality management and compliance
- Stakeholder management and communication
