ABOUT SUPPORT WHEN IT MATTERS ENTERPRISE CIC (SWIM)
Founded in Hackney, London in 2019, Support When It Matters Enterprise CIC is a social enterprise with a mission: to improve the life chances of African/Caribbean and Dual Heritage communities in London.
We work with adults facing complex challenges – including
homelessness, substance use, mental health issues, and contact with the criminal justice system – delivering trauma-informed, culturally competent support to reduce reoffending and promote resilience.
SWIM’s supported housing services play a critical role in that mission – offering more than just a roof. They provide a therapeutic, structured environment for people to begin their recovery journey, access wraparound support, and take steps toward independence.
ABOUT THE ROLE
A safe, stable place to live – for most of us, it’s something we take for granted. But for people facing multiple disadvantages, access to good housing can be the foundation for turning everything around.
That’s why this role is such an important one. Joining a team of mission-driven professionals working to support those with complex challenges, we’re looking for a compassionate and capable Supported Housing Manager to lead London-based housing schemes, oversee a dynamic frontline team, and drive service quality and compliance.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and inspire a team of Team Leaders, Project Workers, and volunteers, embedding SWIM’s values and creating a safe, supportive working environment. You’ll oversee supervisions, training, appraisals, and reflective practice.
- Service Delivery & Housing Management: Oversee daily operations across SWIM’supported housing schemes, ensuring residents receive timely, trauma-informed support that blends harm reduction, Housing First principles, and psychologically informed environments.
Referrals, Move-Ins & Pathways
- Manage referral and assessment processes, support smooth transitions into housing, and ensure a clear pathway toward independence, work, or recovery for each resident.
- Partnership Working: Collaborate with local authorities, clinicians, training providers, and community organisations to support residents’ wellbeing, develop move-on options, and reduce barriers to engagement.
Compliance & Property Oversight
- Work alongside our housing compliance team to manage repairs, schedule works, monitor risk and safety, and ensure all accommodation meets regulatory standards.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Lead on performance data, audits, and reporting. Identify risks and areas for improvement while celebrating successes and scaling what works.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience managing supported housing, recovery-based services, or similar therapeutic environments.
- Leadership skills with a track record of managing teams in high-pressure or complex settings.
- A commitment to equity, anti-discriminatory practice, and culturally responsive support– especially with African/Caribbean and other minorities communities.
- Experience managing budgets, compliance, and external partnerships.
- Strong communication skills and a real ability to build relationships, influence others, and advocate effectively.
(Bonus points if you bring an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification, but if not – we’re happy to support you to achieve it in post.)
