ABOUT THE ROLE
University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Coordinator to lead a dynamic technical team across our media subject areas.
Based at the London College of Fashion East Bank campus, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of specialist technical teams working across subjects areas that include Digital 3D, Creative Computing, AI, Digital Media, Photography, Moving Image and Hair & Makeup.
You will work closely with course and technical teams in the planning and delivery of high-quality technical teaching to students, overseeing workshops, resource provision and associated policies and procedures. Additionally, you will manage resources and budgets effectively, ensuring the smooth running of all services.
This is a challenging role that requires experience of pedagogical approaches and industry practice. You will also stay up to date with new developments in learning and teaching, as well as existing and emerging media technologies, building on your established knowledge and expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
Purpose of the role
- To effectively and efficiently manage media subject areas across LCF, including day to day line management of a diverse Specialist Technical team in subject areas including Digital 3D, Creative Computing, AI, Digital Media and Hair & Makeup.
- To coordinate Technical Workshops, Specialist Resource provision and associated policies and procedures, for the School of Media and Communication.
Key duties
- Responsible for delivery of operational and professional services at the LCF East Bank campus.
- Contribute self-sufficient expertise, keeping up to date with new developments within existing and emerging technologies.
- Considerable freedom to develop plans for delivery of outputs either for self or for the team.
- Coordinate and manage budgets and resources.
- Plan, design and deliver teaching and related administration, within an established teaching programme and/or carrying out research programmes.
Management responsibilities
- Line management of a Specialist Learning & Teaching Technical team

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Experience, knowledge and qualifications
- Degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Teaching & Learning experience.
- Broad experience and understanding of the media subject and industry, with a base of Specialist Knowledge in one or more areas.
- Key skills may include but not be limited to areas of Digital Design, Creative Computing, AI, DTP, VR/AR/MR.
- A strong digital competency with evidence of expertise in the use of digital platforms as a means of communication, creativity, collaboration and teaching & learning are essential.
- Some evidence of cross discipline projects or outcomes is desirable, with experience of team and resource coordination.
