ABOUT THE ROLE
Candidates must be aged over 18 and live in the London Borough of Hackney or neighbouring boroughs. Rooff prides itself in offering long term career opportunities for the right candidates and this opportunity aims to recruit and train someone who wishes to seek a long-term career in Quantity Surveying. The successful candidate will be joining a strong existing team, with the objective being to further strengthen the quantity surveying department and to help financially control part of the future construction workload.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor, supported by an Assistant Surveyor, the new trainee/apprentice will start to learn the full spectrum of QS related financial management activities. Training will relate to specific task roles and responsibilities.
The following headings set out the broad range of responsibilities;
- Measurement (on site and from plans) and BQ preparation.
- Helping prepare main contract valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Helping prepare monthly cost value reconciliations and forecasts.
- Assisting with preparation and monitoring of project cash flows.
- Assisting financial control of Sub-Contractors from placing order to agreeing final accounts.
- Producing precontract budgets.
- Building cost per square metre analysis.
- Learning about ethical and high moral behaviour and awareness of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications, Knowledge & skills:
- 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications.
- A-levels: Typical offers range from BCC to ABB. Popular subjects include Maths, Economics, Business Studies, and Geography.
- BTEC: A Level 3 Extended Diploma usually requires DDM to MMM (Distinction, Merit, Merit).
- UCAS Points: Require between 104 and 128 points.
- All candidates are expected to have a valid CSCS card.
- Candidates must have good interpersonal and communication skills, whilst learning from experienced members of staff.
- Good self-motivation and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- An eagerness to learn and develop personal skills and competencies.
- Previous experience of the construction sector is useful but not essential if starting as a trainee or apprentice.
