ABOUT McGREGOR COXALL

McGregor Coxall is a global multi-disciplinary design firm with offices in the UK and Australia. We combine our international expertise and experience with local knowledge and sensitivities to deliver design solutions for complex urban and environmental challenges. The working culture at McGregor Coxall blurs the boundaries between design and engineering, allowing us to integrate technical and design excellence while weaving culture, ecology and artistic elements into our design. Central to our design thinking is the concept of ‘Biourbanism’ — understanding cities as a form of nature, where urban and biological systems coexist and inform one another.

ABOUT THE PLACEMENT

McGregor Coxall is delighted to offer a 4-week paid placement in our London studio. This work experience will provide the opportunity to explore principles of landscape architecture, urban design and environmental engineering.

This placement opportunity is open to young people aged 18-24 who have grown up or been educated at schools within Hackney, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets and Newham. The role will be paid at London Living Wage.

What to expect in the placement:

During your placement you will provide design support on our projects, working within our multi-disciplinary team of Landscape Architects, Urban Designers, Environmental Engineers and Biourbanism experts. Our projects range across varying scales from public realm space design, to mixed use and residential developments, parks and leisure spaces, and masterplanning. We encourage your attendance to workshops, design team meetings and design reviews. Moreover, the experience will include a visit with our Bristol studio.

Knowledge of or an interest in CAD, some 3-D modelling knowledge such as Sketch-up, Rhino or 3DS Max (or similar) and an understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite, such as Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator would be well received, although not essential.
